Electronic travel authorization to enter Thailand
In order to speed up the visa approval process, the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand has implemented the new Thailand visa on arrival online. By allowing eligible citizens to apply online for a visa before traveling, the new process vastly simplifies the procedures to enter Thailand.To be eligible, travelers must have a passport valid for at least thirty (30) days upon the entry date and arrive by plane at one of the international airports in Thailand. Once there, they can pass quickly through border control using the dedicated fast line for eVisa on arrival holders. The Thailand eVisa is valid for a single-entry stay of a maximum of fifteen (15) days.The Government of the Kingdom of Thailand is currently waiving the additional payment of 2,000 Baht (approximately 61 USD) to enter Thailand with eVisa on arrival until the 30th of April 2019. After this date, all travelers may be required to make an additional payment of 2,000 Baht upon arrival in Thailand.
The Thailand Online Visa or Thailand eVisa is an electronic travel authorization which is intended to allow citizens of eligible countries to enter Thailand mainly for tourism purposes.
The eVisa for Thailand has been designed to quicken the process of applying for and obtaining a Thai visa.
Any citizen from one of the aforementioned countries with a valid passport will be able to apply for a Thailand online visa which will enable them to travel in Thailand for up to 60 days.

The Thailand visa will simplify the visa application procedure as there will be no need to visit Thai Embassies or queue at the Thai border. At the moment, countries that are part of the visa exemption scheme for Thailand can travel visa-free in Thailand for up to 30 days. However, traveling for longer than this period requires a Thailand tourist visa.

Who needs to apply for an eVisa to go to Thailand?
Depending on the country you are from, the travel requirements and regulations may vary. Citizens from China, France, and the United Kingdom will be able to apply for a Thai eVisa in early 2019. More countries will be added to the list of eligible countries over the coming months.
Chinese nationals will also be able to request a Thai visa electronically, under different conditions and travel periods. At present Chinese nationals and 21 other countries are only able to request a visa on arrival in Thailand. The new Thai eVisa will enable citizens of these countries to obtain a visa electronically prior to travel.
Citizens who wish to enter Thailand who are not from visa-exempt countries, need a Thai visa online in order to travel to the country. The Visa for Thailand currently must be obtained at the closest Thai diplomatic mission (Embassy or Consulate). Citizens from 21 countries are also eligible to obtain a Thailand visa on arrival.
The Thailand Online Visa will soon be available for citizens of France, China and the United Kingdom.
