Citizens of San Marino need a visa to go to Thailand regardless of the length of their stay. The easiest visa to obtain is a visa on arrival for Thai which allows a stay of up to 15 days for tourism, business or medical reasons.
Other types of visas for Thailand are available for longer trips or those for different purposes. These types of visas require going to a Thai embassy or consulate (the closest embassy is in Rome, the nearest consulate is in Venice).
Can Citizens from San Marino Get a Visa on Arrival in Thailand?
Yes, and they are very easy to obtain. In the past Sammarinese travelers had to queue up in long lines at the Thai border, but thankfully this is no longer necessary. Now, visitors with a passport issued by San Marino can pre-register for a Thailand electronic visa on arrival online (eVOA) before setting off.
The Thai eVOA allows Sammarinese travelers to go through a dedicated fast lane and means they do not need to complete the paperwork at the border (as it is done online in advance). It effectively saves a lot of time and hassle which is very welcome after a long flight.
To promote the new eVOA for citizens of San Marino, the Thai Government is currently waiving the payment of 2,000 baht (roughly 61USD) until April 30, 2020. After this date, all travelers will need to pay the 2,000 baht additional fee for the 15-day visa.
How to apply for a Thai eVisa on Arrival for Sammarinese Citizens?
The application process for the Thailand electronic visa on arrival for citizens of San Marino is simple. The online Thailand eVisa application can be completed between 30 days and 24 hours before the intended date of entry.
Applicants should carefully check all the information they enter before they submit the form as any errors can result in delays or even visa rejections. All the information is screened by the relevant authorities before the application is approved (which saves time as the authorities do not need to do this at the border).
To submit the application, it is necessary to pay the fee using a credit or debit card. If approved, the Thailand eVOA is sent directly to the email address provided on the application form. Applicants can print a copy to present at the Thai border to gain entry (along with their passport).
